Bentleague Blog – Match Recap 10/1/2026

Tony Priola October 8, 2026

Another clerical? controversy. Kobrock back in the win column. Dino and Burt vie for MVP. Ego still winless. Lead shrinking for LIl Boosie, and Seth feeling good moving into a tie for 2nd. At least we don't have to hear about Ferr being undefeated. 3rd round continues today!

Bentleague Blog – Match Recap 10/1/2026

Round 3

2026-10-01

String Theory1@Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters4

Line 1 · Doubles

1ptMax Agnew / Chris KobrockvsMitch Tucker / Mark Ferrer

6-2, 7-5

String Theory

Swami's take: Interesting line one pairings with a 3 and a 4 vs. a 4 and a 7.  Guess Kenny had to sit Russ at some point. May have been a gift to ST. "I have to take a" Kobrock feasting on inferior competition with Fabio Agnew prowling the net. The list of undefeated's lose one as FerrMagic can't help MDB add one to paltry one win total.

Line 2 · Doubles

1ptMark Fair / Alejandro TorresvsMike Lane / Matt Dean

6-3

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: M&M Boys continue dominance. Not sure of the pairing choice for the Accountant. Hard to understand putting two winless players together at line 2. Swami would have preferred the MVP front runner (Matty Ice) get challenged.   I foresee a Lil Nadal match up in your future Dino.

Line 3 · Doubles

1ptRonald Regouffre / Brad HumphreysvsJack Ellis / Garrett, I mean Justin Guitreau

6-1, 6-3

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: I remember when Goof and Hump won the convincing match in Ashville at Line 3. Even made koozy's to document it. My my..how the mighty have fallen. Don't know what is sadder, watching the demise or hearing the acceptance of defeat straight from the Mouth of Mandeville. Justin "He Hate Me" Guitreau feasting on wounded warriors. Didn't hurt to be paired with a 2nd rounder. Lil Boogie sits his first and third round draft picks and wins 4 of 5. It is not lost on the Swami that he is two clerical errors away from being called a genius.

Line 4 · Doubles

1ptHal Nietzchman / Ross DoylevsBurt Dalton / George Lampard

6-3, 3-6

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: Don't hand out the MVP title just yet. The original Tinder King is number one on the leaderboard with his 100% winning percentage. If you recall, Swami said picks 5 through 10 were the strength of the Ball Busters draft. Sorry Mitch. No one is backing up this claim more than the Latin Lover. It was a little weird hearing Joey talk about Burt's Mail order bride, but he wasn't wrong. May have to start dry cleaning my laundry again if I get real job.

Line 5 · Doubles

1ptDoug Dillon / Bob BrownvsDoug Autin / Jason Catt

7-5, 6-4

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: Double D and Double B pairing pays Doesn't pay off for the Accountant. Close scores indicate hard fought match. Four-time winner of Bentleague (Bogolusa Doug) and JCatt take the close one. 29 total not going to cut for String Theory. Need that kind of total vs. Old Knees to get him his first win othewise Jeff Thompson may have more wins than Original Commish!

Crazy Eyed Starfish3@Spin Seekers2

2026-10-017:00 PMcomplete

Line 1 · Doubles

1ptEd Dauterive / John AllenvsShane McCarthy / Jay Butcher

6-4, 6-2

Spin Seekers

Swami's take: McCarthy/Candlestick pairing doing what they can to keep Spin Seekers relevant. Ed posting that 2 and 3 record has to have Coach Starfish concerned. Same for his number 4.  Swami still likes the options on the table for future pairings on the starfish roster and stands by his pre-season prediction. No doubt, records indicate some of the squad is underperforming right now.   Captain's round on the horizon may give them the boost they need.

Line 2 · Doubles

1ptRudy P Kalman / Joey DunbarvsMark Schneider / Greg Gorden

5-7, 6-2, 1-0

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Speaking of underperforming. Former MVP yet to find his groove. Hard fought first two sets succumb to an anti-climactic TSTB. Pretty even on paper, may have been the best match of the five. Always have a chance with Sly but Joey's five wins nothing to sneeze at. How did this guy slip to six?

Line 3 · Doubles

1ptCayman Sinclair / Seth MonaghanvsDavid Parnell / Andrew McQuaid

6-3, 6-2

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Well, this one is disappointing to recap. 3 and 2. C'mon man. Was jet lag a factor. Spin Seekers duo started off slow and got worse... and everyone knows the Wolf plays better with the lead. Keep it close and you have a chance. Not on this day. Oh and 3 from Pouty, and 1 and 4 from Big Burrito to date hard to comprehend. Didn't Parnell lift the trophy every year he has played in Bentleague? Time to step it up before its too late.

Line 4 · Doubles

1ptRyan Fournier / Danny ButlervsDavid Butler / Kevin Phayer

6-2, 5-7, 1-0

Spin Seekers

Swami's take: Butler vs. Butler! And Kevin and Ryan. Close out match didn't disappoint. Highly competition with a little blood fued mixed in. In the end, our Butler was better than yours. good win to salvage tie for 2nd place. Squirrell and David had what it took at the end. I'm sure call back home to Mommy put a smile on David's face!!

Line 5 · Doubles

1ptDave McGuire / Jeff St. RomainvsRay Brouillette / Bentley Harvey

6-4, 6-4

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Tough ask for Old knees Harvey and Ray Ray. That is a strong line 5 pairing for the Starfish. 22 total vs. A 26.  Great getting it to 4 and 4 but the new Jeff St. Ro is not the old Jeff St. Ro. Swami seeing more balls landing in lately and predicts a higher line in your future.  Unofficial Mayor of Mandeville (UMoM) and the new and improved St. Ro both posting winning records has Starfish Captain smiling and is one reason for the recent rise to 2nd place in B XII.

Totals

Lil Bougie = 26

Spin Seekers = 20

Starfish = 20

String Theory = 10

Swami's Quick Observations (SQO):  For those not aware, Lil Boosie had another clerical error exchanging the line ups Thursday. All agree the Screech look alike had no ill intentions with his recent faux pas. Between Screech's clerical errors and the Accountant's appeals both are making life difficult for the New Commish.  Executive committee ruled favorably (this time) for Lil Boosie but all agree he needs a Co-captain to double check every decision he makes. This is not USTA, we police ourselves and want the matches decided on the tennis court if at all possible. If not, you will be awarded a pink vagina hat and a pink tuxedo to wear at the end of the year party. Just ask Hairy Hal!!
