Bring out the Broom! Starfish sweep! Five points separate 1-3...and then there is Steve's String Theory. Spin Seekers avoid sweep but fall 1-4 to Ball Busters! Not a good showing against B XII number 1. Continue reading for full summary:

Bentleague Blog – 9/24/26 Match Recap

String Theory0@Crazy Eyed Starfish5

2026-09-246:00 PMcomplete

Line 1 · Doubles

1ptChris Kobrock / Ronald RegouffrevsJohn Allen / Joey Dunbar

6-4, 3-6, 1-0

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Down goes Kobrock, Down goes Kobrock. Week on the inactive list (coaches decision) didn’t help winning streak. Allen/Dunbar equal on draft positions as String Theory duo but we all know that is an anomaly. Bad time to rest top two Accountant. Surprised it went to the third but the pink slip for my car would have been safe if I were a betting man.

Line 2 · Doubles

1ptMax Agnew / Hal NietzchmanvsNick Thompson / Ernie Anderson

3-6, 7-6, 1-0

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Crazy Eyes goes low with Tricky / Ernie pairing and it pays off. I watched the first set, and Nick was the liability early. Good thing for Seth, he righted the ship before it was too late and Ernie held steady. Thought the pairing of Fabio and the Hairy one was worthy Steve, but zero luck in TSTB’s seems to be your Achillies heal.

Line 3 · Doubles

1ptDonald Allen / Keith WestvsRyan Fournier / Seth Monaghan

6-4, 6-3

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Well... this one is surprising. The Donald seems snake bitten lately. Is it just stiffer competition or has he lost a step. Thought KWest would equalize Seth’s athleticism, and Rehash could out top spin Ryan’s single specialist game.  Swami and the Accountant were definitely wrong looking at the straight set victory game tally.

Line 4 · Doubles

1ptRobby Economides / Mark MillsvsRudy P Kalman / Daniel Enk

1-6, 6-2, 1-0

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Millsie and RuPaul rallying forehands, Robbie and Dan the Man seeking net dominance. Two lopsided sets, and a spectator friendly TSTB. Each had some opportunities, but at the end of the nail biter third set, Dan the Man earned his nic name and Robbie was one red bull and cig away from smoke coming out his ears.

Line 5 · Doubles

1ptTodd Delcambre / Joshua WalkervsChris Coincon / Wayne Durr

6-4, 6-3

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Did someone mention Coincon for MVP? Pleasant surprise for Captain Starfish. 2 wins in 2 matches should get you more playing time. Too much consistency on the winning side of the net in Swami’s opinion. No offense to Josh and Toad, I blame this one on your captain.

Spin Seekers1@Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters4

2026-09-247:00 PMcomplete

Line 1 · Doubles

1ptTony Priola / David ParnellvsRussell Anderson / Burt Dalton

6-3, 6-4

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: Don’t call me Russell, is pretty good but the Latin Lover more than held his own. Tough out for Lil Nadal and Pouty Parnell. Throw in a questionable “no call” by Russell on serve in the first and it’s hard to beat number one with a number 4 and 6. Next time don’t be afraid to overrule your partner. You running down a lob that you hit and then claiming to not see it “in”, is disappointing. C’mon man...your better than that. Even if you have won five in a row!

Line 2 · Doubles

1ptGreg Gorden / Ray BrouillettevsMatt Dean / Mike Lane

6-4, 6-1

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: Matty Ice continues to shine and is threatening 2nd consecutive MVP for Bentleague. Undefeated and playing with power and consistency to complement Perticus’ sometimes erratic play.   Was hoping Gordo and Ray Ray could challenge but sometimes I feel Greg doesn’t really care if he wins or loses.

Line 3 · Doubles

1ptDavid Butler / Steven BurgessvsMark Ferrer / Lowell Shih

6-1, 6-4

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: Don’t snooze on One unplugged. At 4-0, quietly putting his name in the hat for MVP.  Ball Busters will have to mix in some more players, but nucleus from 5 to 10 is the primary reason this team is in first place. Can he buy a vowell Shih has been impressive too. 2nd match witnessed by the Swami and he continues to shine for Lil Boosie.

Line 4 · Doubles

1ptJavier Rodriguez / Sid HauptmannvsMike Mesa / Garrett Phillippi

4-6, 7-6

Spin Seekers

Swami's take: Thank small g(god) for JRod! Front runner at 5-0 for MVP is carrying Spin Seekers. Swami loves the way he finds a way to win and Sid the Kid is more than holding his own. Not an easy win against the Crafty Cuban and G-Money. Ending the late night with a TSTB victory put some smiles back on the Spin Seekers spectators as they avoid the sweep. Unlike the Accountant.

Line 5 · Doubles

1ptGreg Eckholdt / CJ MehlevsJustin Guitreau / George Lampard

6-3, 7-5

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: Damn, so close to sending this to a third. Good win for George the Animal Lampard and arguably the most hated player in Bentleague. Seems no one likes to lose to this guy. If you look up, definition of a sore winner in the dictionary, it has Justin’s picture next to it. Good pairing Lil Boogie, because everyone likes George.

Totals

Lil Bougie = 22

Spin Seekers = 18

Starfish = 17

String Theory = 9

Swami's Quick Observations (SQO): Getting interesting as we close out round 2. Starfish climb immediately back into the mix with Sweep over String Theory. Have a feeling Steve’s team will play the same roll Hal’s team played last year. Everyone circling them on the calendar as their “move up the standings” day. Hope they don’t mail it in because they are so far back in the standings. Spin Seekers would have liked to be a little stronger against Lil Bossie (1st place team), but it may be a blessing in disguise as we move into the third round having sat some top tier players. Lil Nadal not shying away from a rematch with (Russ)ell either! Plenty of points for the taking in the next three rounds. I know Seth is excited to be back within striking distance. Will make it interesting moving forward even though he cannot play String Theory each week. Stay tuned.
