Crazy Eyed Starfish2@Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters3

2026-09-176:00 PMcomplete

Line 1 · Doubles

1ptEd Dauterive / Dave McGuirevsJack Ellis / Jack Blossman

6-3, 7-5

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Longest two-setter without Roberto in Bentleague history. Patience was the name of the game Saturday morning and One-Eyed Jack tried his best with Jaybo against the Donkey and the unofficial mayor of mandeville. Ed can play that patient game as good as anyone (just ask the Ego). Conveniently timed bathroom break up 5-4 and serving by uMoM added a little gamesmanship to the proceedings. Got Jaybo with a Jaybo tactic and it worked.

Line 2 · Doubles

1ptRyan Fournier / Joey DunbarvsRussell Anderson / Garrett Phillippi

6-3, 6-2

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: Who said the masses are catching up to Russ Anderson. Russ says not so fast my friend. Playing with Russ can even make G Money an expert doubles player. Garrett says sign me up with Don't call me Russell any time any day. 18 match winning streak snapped for Calves Dunbar. Don't worry...even though you aren't ready to challenge at Russell's level just yet, your calves are still number 1.

Line 3 · Doubles

1ptCayman Sinclair / Robert GroeneveldvsMike Mesa / Mike Lane

4-6, 6-4

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: Curse of the first set W, holds true again for Cayman. May need a phycologist if this anomaly is not corrected soon.   Word on the street is that his rackets were put on eBay shortly after another fist set W turned into a three set loss on Saturday. Say it isn't so Cayman. Swami knew trouble was brewing once the TSTB began. Let's just say...Uncle Mo switched and the Starfish team became awfully quiet.

Line 4 · Doubles

1ptJohn Hearn / Seth MonaghanvsLowell Shih / Justin Guitreau

4-6, 6-3

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: This one hurt the Starfish Captain bad. Not saying anyone likes losing but it is evident that Crazy Eyes hates losing to Justin.  Reminiscent of the PAC Doubles Tourney...It looks like Justin has Seth's number. Mix in an underrated Shih and a struggling Hitman, and you have the makings of an upset (on paper) and possible broken racket.   Back to the drawing board for the Starfish Captain, at least he only talked about breaking a racket.

Line 5 · Doubles

1ptJeff St. Romain / Eric DaiglevsEthan Hunt / Paul Guidotti

6-1, 7-5

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Swami was wondering when St. Ro would suit it up. A lot of power on the Starfish squad if they could keep it in the court. Almost an impossible mission for EHunt and Paulie G. Gained the moral victory with that 2nd set 7-5 score.

String Theory1@Spin Seekers4

2026-09-177:00 PMcomplete

Line 1 · Doubles

1ptMark Fair / Keith WestvsShane McCarthy / Ray Brouillette

6-2, 6-4

Spin Seekers

Swami's take: No one is handling defeat as good as the Ego in Bentleague X II. But, is that a good thing. Swami knows losing, just like winning, is contagious. The Ego may be getting two comfortable coming in 2nd. Ray Ray taking advantage of his pairing and it's also nice to see KWest getting some experience at line 1.

Line 2 · Doubles

1ptDonald Allen / Ronald RegouffrevsTony Priola / Andrew McQuaid

6-3, 6-0

Spin Seekers

Swami's take: Interesting sub plot moving Addi and Butch down a line. Looks like both Captain's had similar game plans. Just not a good match up for String Theory. Too much athleticism on the Spin Seekers side of the net. First win for the Big Burrito was just what the doctor ordered. Don't foresee Rehash rehashing any points from that 2nd set any time soon.

Line 3 · Doubles

1ptAddison Melancon / Hal NietzchmanvsJay Butcher / Steven Burgess

6-3, 6-4

String Theory

Swami's take: Tough match up for Candlestick and LA Tech Steve. The Coonass is playing tennis at an MVP level for the String Theory Captain. Mix in the dog mentality of Hairy Hal and it's a tall task for anyone. I'm sure Butch being a little under the weather didn't help, but two L's this week (Tuesday and Thursday) has the Swami concerned.

Line 4 · Doubles

1ptAlejandro Torres / Mark MillsvsMark Schneider / Sid Hauptmann

6-1, 6-1

Spin Seekers

Swami's take: Bread sticks on sale – two for the price of one. Not even sure, Sly broke a sweat. Captain Sid, stepping up representing Spin Seekers admirably. Be carefule what you ask for Millsie, couple of W's on your resume brings higher expectations. May be why Ale don't mind an L every now and then.

Line 5 · Doubles

1ptRobby Economides / Steven ToupsvsGreg Eckholdt / Skip Scoggin

7-6, 7-6

Spin Seekers

Swami's take: Turned out to be feature match with both sets ending 7-6. Way to battle guys. Did Toup's hyperhidrosis play a role. If anyone needs a ball holder, it's Steve. Nice debut even if you came up a little short. Doc Eck has a way of deemphasizing the oppositions net play and was the perfect complement to scrappy skip scoggin (the pride of Bogalusa).   Don't make Skip pull out his scrap book. Dude was a Bogalusa Stud.

Totals

Lil Bougie = 18

Spin Seekers = 17

Starfish = 12

String Theory = 9

Synopsis to date:

Swami's Quick Observations (SQO): Even the Accountant can sense the urgency! Nine back with three teams in front of String Theory and no (Barney Fife) magic bullet (i.e. cockamamie - last round counts double) in his pocket. Starfish captain is also struggling to be optimistic. Can't get mad as your team if you are not carrying your own weight.  Are we looking at a two-horse race this early in Bentleague or can the others right the ship? Will Seth ever get a chance to wear that stupid starfish outfit again? Time to check the depth of the rosters as we complete round 2 and move into round 3!
