Bentleague Blog – 9/12/26 Match Recap

Round 22026-09-128:00 AM

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters4@String Theory1

2026-09-128:00 AMcomplete

Line 1 · Doubles

1ptRussell Anderson / Mike MesavsAddison Melancon / Alejandro Torres

6-2, 7-5

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take:

Tough line one for Lil Bougie with Russ and the Cerabral Cuban. Addi and Ale made it interesting in the third but tennis IQ a little too much for A&A to overcome. Russ says not so fast, to all the doubters who thinks he is coming back to the pack.

Line 2 · Doubles

1ptEddie Burdette / Mark FerrervsMax Agnew / Keith West

7-6, 6-4

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take:

Looks like a great closely fought battle. Eddie the Cruiser just racking up W's so far in B XII. Nice to see he can win without Russell. FerrMagic ain't no sloucher either. Saturday morning matches are different and captains better pay attention. The heat and a late night of partying could derail a match more than errand shots. So far, Saturday's haven't been too kind to Fabio Max. String Theory Cap may have to remember this one when 10/10 rolls around. Recently single = chasing P doesn't equal (not = to) Sat morning W's. Ask the CoonAss!

Line 3 · Doubles

1ptMitch Tucker / Jack BlossmanvsChris Kobrock / Mark Mills

3-6, 6-4, 1-0

String Theory

Swami's take: Good win by Millsie and I have to take a Kobrock. Chris returning to form of a couple of years ago. Nice to see. Millsie and Jaybo rising to the ocassion so far in Bentleague XII. First loss in a while for Jaybo. At least is wasn't in the bubble against you know who. MDB struggling so far in B XII, has Lil B captain scratching his head. Can we still blame the iron deficiency or has his game slipped? Time will tell, he still has time to right the ship if he doesn't get benched.

Line 4 · Doubles

1ptJack Ellis / Justin GuitreauvsDonald Allen / Bob Brown

6-3, 6-1

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: Jack and Justine went up the hill. Opps...typo I guess. I'll leave it there anyway because it's funny. Teammates, Co-workers, and winners. Bad Bad Bobby Brown and The Donald falter in two. Looks like an easy outing for Jackie MeHoff and Justine.

Line 5 · Doubles

1ptEthan Hunt / Kenny BoudreauxvsHauke Bayer / Todd Delcambre

3-6, 7-5, 1-0

Lil Bougie and the Ball Busters

Swami's take: Welcome to the courts Lil Boosie. First appearance in B XII and he wins. Looks like E-Dog chose to accept his mission and also gets his first win of Bentleague. Congrats.  Close 2nd set and a nail- biter TSTB. Can't ask for more. The Accountant may want to rethink this combo in future rounds. Hard to explain, but a couple of ill-timed doubles did in Heil Hauke and Toad Delcambre

Spin Seekers3@Crazy Eyed Starfish2

2026-09-129:30 AMcomplete

Line 1 · Doubles

1ptShane McCarthy / Kevin PhayervsNick Thompson / Ryan Fournier

7-6, 6-4

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Highly competitive. Oh so close for SS. Tough loss but congrats to Tricky and Nice guy Ryan. There are a lot of rules with new Commish but I like what he did with this round. I like the idea of mixing up some pairings. CES take this one to set the tone...but did they.

Line 2 · Doubles

1ptMark Schneider / Ray BrouillettevsEd Dauterive / Danny Butler

7-6, 0-6, 11-9

Spin Seekers

Swami's take: Word on the street is that Starfish had a coulple of match points but could not convert. I know that is hard on the psyche. Betting Ed "The Talking Donkey" won't soon forget this one. And why did he listen to their Butler when serving for the match and hit a kicker serve? Scoring for the 2nd set seems off. Were the Spin Seekers duo giving them false hope. Looks like it paid off in the crucial third. Good win by Samuria and Super Ray.

Line 3 · Doubles

1ptTony Priola / Javier RodriguezvsJohn Hearn / Dave McGuire

6-3, 3-6, 10-7

Spin Seekers

Swami's take: Just another day in the office for Lil Nadal and JRod. JK. Was not easy. Ground strokes from the Hitman and net play for UMom are a tough tandem. Thank small g(od) for Javi. Good combination of lobs and activity at the net kept the Starfish combo at bay. Lil Nadal held his own but not up to the standards he sets for himself. Better give up late night bumper pool with Starfish captain when 10/9 rolls around.

Line 4 · Doubles

1ptAndrew McQuaid / Sid HauptmannvsSeth Monaghan / Rudy P Kalman

7-5, 6-4

Crazy Eyed Starfish

Swami's take: Scores look close. A little more Seth and less Rudy may have changed the tide. No such thing as positive self talk for crazy eyes but Spin Seekers could not capitalize. Pretty even on paper with exceptional forehands by Senor' Sid and Rudy while Seth and Andrew patrol the net. A W here would have been nice for SS.

Line 5 · Doubles

1ptGreg Gorden / Pat lorcavsDaniel Enk / Will Blossman

7-6, 6-4

Spin Seekers

Swami's take:  Three debuts on court 7 for the newbies.  Last match on to break the 2-2 tie didn't disappoint. All played well. Score and tennis was competitive. Danny brought out some big serves, Will the Thrill got his monies worth on each swing and Pat held up his end as a 20th rounder to help chong Gordon get in the win column.  Crowd closed it down courtside as is custom for the last match on. Nice way to start a Saturday, especially since this one gave Spin Seekers the 3-2 advantage for the match up.

Totals

Lil Bougie = 15

Spin Seekers = 13

Starfish = 10

String Theory = 8

Synopsis to date:

Swami's Quick Observations (SQO): Lil Boogie holding slight lead as we get to round 2, match 2. PSA from the Accountant suggests Lil Boogie playing his top line players too much too early. Crazy Eyes Sess believes his team is under performing. Swami agrees. Swami, also surprised by early success of Ball Busters. Doubts BB will be able to hold the rope for much longer. Sid the Kid, quietly leading Spin Seekers to 2nd is the consensus underdog but in the perfect spot for a last lap kick. All need to mix in some new players to check depth of their drafts. We'll find out more on Thursday. Stay tuned.
